What happens at Indaba

Indaba is a trade show, not a public expo. Exhibitors (tourism businesses from South Africa and the rest of the continent) meet international buyers and media in pre-booked appointments over the show days, usually after a networking day. Deals made here fill safari lodges and beach hotels for the following years.

It is held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (the Durban ICC) and the Durban Exhibition Centre next door.

2027 dates

When this page was written, listings put Indaba 2027 at about 11 to 13 May 2027, with a networking day on 10 May. South African Tourism had not confirmed the dates; check indaba-southafrica.co.za before booking travel.

Why stay out of town

Hotels near the ICC fill and climb in price during Indaba week. A team sharing a Cabana Mio chalet gets three bedrooms, a full kitchen, aircon in the lounge and a quiet patio to prepare for the next day's meetings, 28 km (about 23 minutes) from the ICC, with the beach at the gate for an early swim.
