Who we are
Cabana Mio Self Catering Chalets, 159 Beach Road, Athlone Park, Amanzimtoti, 4126, KwaZulu-Natal, managed by Cabana Mio Accommodation Management Company (Pty) Ltd (registration 2022/755624/07), the "responsible party" under POPIA. Our Information Officer is the head of the company, reachable at cally@cabanamio.co.za.
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only collect what you give us yourself, and we never sell or rent it to anyone.
What we collect
- When you book or enquire: your name, email address, phone number, your dates, the number of chalets, add-on requests and any notes you give us.
- When you talk to Cheryl, our voice booking assistant: your voice is streamed to Google's Gemini service so she can understand and answer you. We do not keep a recording. If you book through Cheryl, we keep the same booking details as above.
- When you pay: the deposit reference and amount from our bank statement. We never ask for card numbers on this website.
- When you browse: our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site keeps small items in your own browser (for example the dates you searched) so pages remember your choices; these never leave your device.
Why we use it
- To hold and confirm your booking, send you the payment details and prepare for your arrival.
- To arrange the activities you asked for (for example golf or a fishing charter) with the operator concerned.
- To answer your questions and keep the records the law requires.
- To send you news or offers only if you agreed to it. You can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
Only with service providers who help us run the bookings, under agreements that protect your information: our website host (Netlify), our booking database (Supabase), our email service (Resend), Google (for Cheryl's voice service), NightsBridge (the reservation system that keeps our chalet calendar in step with other booking channels) and, when you request an activity, the operator who provides it. Some of these providers store data outside South Africa; we use them only where POPIA allows such transfers. We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
Booking records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally five years), then deleted. Enquiries that do not become bookings are deleted after 12 months.
Your rights
You may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email cally@cabanamio.co.za. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
Keeping it safe
Bookings are stored in a secured database that only our office can reach, behind a password. Website traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Staff see only what they need to manage your stay.

Our pages link to other sites, such as golf clubs, dive centres and restaurants. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please read the privacy statement of any site that collects your information.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time and will post every change on this page. If you feel we are not following it, please contact us straight away at cally@cabanamio.co.za or call Cally on 082 496 2879.
