The Golf Coast

Six courses,
one beach chalet.

The KZN South Coast calls itself the Golf Coast for a reason. From Cabana Mio you reach six very different courses in under 50 minutes, from the river course up the road to the club that has hosted more South African Opens than any other.

Amanzimtoti Country Club is 7 km away, close enough for an early round before the beach. Head south and the coastal courses open up: Umkomaas with sea views from all but one hole, Scottburgh above the town, and Selborne and Umdoni Park in the green Umdoni valley near Pennington. North, Durban Country Club is half an hour away.

Most clubs welcome visitors but book tee times by phone or on their own site, and fees change by season, so the table gives what each course is like and how far it is. Tell us your dates when you book and we will help line up the rounds.

Questions

What is the closest golf course to Cabana Mio?

Amanzimtoti Country Club in Athlone Park, about 7 km and 11 minutes by car.

Can visitors play these courses?

Is there golf all year?

Yes. The South Coast is subtropical, with mild dry winters that are the most comfortable time to play. Summer brings heat and afternoon storms, so tee off early.

Can a golf group stay together?

Yes. Each chalet sleeps six, and a group can book two or more chalets side by side, with braai patios for the evening.
