The course
Amanzimtoti Country Club is a parkland course with tree-lined fairways and a conservancy of wetland and coastal bush around it, so birdlife is part of the round. Directories credit the layout to Bob Grimsdell, the architect behind many of South Africa's older courses.
It is not a long course, about 5,800 metres from the men's tees, but the river comes into play, most memorably on the 16th, where the tee shot has to carry it.
Playing as a visitor
Visitors are welcome. Book a tee time with the pro shop, especially on Saturdays when the club runs its competitions. Club and cart hire, a driving range and a putting green are listed for visitors.
