Every chalet has a full kitchen and its own braai, but the beachfront restaurants are a few minutes away when nobody wants to cook.
Three local favourites on Amanzimtoti's beachfront, each about a kilometre from the chalets: a beach bar with live music, a family steakhouse and a seaside coffee shop for breakfast.
All three are an easy walk along Beach Road or a two-minute drive, so nobody has to stay sober to drive home. The Thirsty Whale is the place for sundowners and the big match, the Spur suits a family dinner with young children, and Giselle's is for a slow breakfast after an early swim.
For self-catering, the Galleria Mall is about 3 km away with supermarkets, a butcher and bottle stores, and Arbour Crossing has everyday shopping close by. Most guests stock up on the way in, cook most nights on their own braai and keep one evening for eating out.
