Amanzimtoti's main beaches are protected by shark nets and lifeguards in season, with a promenade, tidal pools and the water park a short walk along the beachfront. For something different, ride a horse along the shoreline at sunrise.
The beach changes with the seasons. Summer brings warm water around 25 °C, busy holiday weekends and afternoon thunderstorms, so swim in the morning. Winter days are dry, clear and mild, the quietest time on the sand, and from June the Sardine Run can bring dolphins, gannets and sometimes whales close inshore. Early mornings are best all year: calm water, soft light and the beach almost to yourself.
From the chalets a coded gate opens onto the beach path, so you can walk down with a towel and a cooler and be back for lunch at the braai. Our weather page has the sea temperature, sunrise and sunset for every month.
