The Durban July is South Africa's best-known horse race and one of its biggest fashion events, run at Greyville every year since 1897.
The 2027 date is not announced yet. It is normally the first Saturday of July.
Planning your stay
- Getting there: Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse is 28 km from Cabana Mio, about 24 minutes by road without traffic. On event days, leave early and allow extra time for parking and road closures.
- Suggested dates: arrive Friday, 02 July and leave Sunday, 04 July, so the event day is free of travel.
- Weather in July: days average 23°C and nights 11°C, with about 3 rainy days in the month. The sea is around 22°C.
- Daylight: the sun rises about 6:51 and sets about 17:13 in mid-July.
- Tickets: buy them from the organiser or its official ticket outlet; Cabana Mio does not sell event tickets.
- Room for everyone: each chalet sleeps six in three bedrooms, with a kitchen and a private braai. Groups book chalets side by side.
